If you flight is delayed two hours or more, the Department of Transportation requires airlines to pay you up to $400 (called the “Bumping Rule”) if you are involuntarily delayed. Even if you’re put on an alternative flight that is supposed to get in within two hours, they still may have to pay you up to $200.
